From August 29 to September 1, 25 children in Kovachevitsa had the opportunity to unleash their creativity. Under the loving guidance of Milena Kuncheva and her foundation "Help for Persons with Developmental Problems", supported by Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe, a colorful collection of artwork was created during these days, which truly touches the heart.
A Place Full of Color and Joy
For the children in Kovachevitsa, the art workshop was much more than just a creative break – it was a place where they could express themselves freely and without prejudice. In just a few days, the small village became a colorful place where clay, wood, and paint spoke the language of the children.
Pottery, ceramics, watercolors, and even pyrography were on the agenda. The children, many of whom have developmental challenges like autism or physical disabilities, found in art a way to express themselves and show what they are capable of.
Milena Kuncheva and Her Dedicated Foundation
This special workshop was organized and conducted by Milena Kuncheva and her foundation "Help for Persons with Developmental Issues." With much heart and commitment, she took care of the children, ensuring they had an unforgettable experience. Her foundation, which also runs the Villa Autistika project supported by Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe, has made a valuable contribution to the support of these children. Milena Kuncheva’s efforts allowed the children to creatively express themselves in a safe environment.
A Special Visit
On August 31st, there was great excitement: Rolf Ott, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Swiss Embassy in Bulgaria, visited the children in Kovachevitsa along with Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe President Irina Buholzer and Board Member Neda Derlokova. The children's eyes lit up as they received honorary certificates for their wonderful creations. For them, this was a moment of recognition that showed them that their efforts and talents are seen and appreciated.
Artworks from the Heart
The creations made by the children during the workshop are impressive. The works, made from clay, ceramics, and wood, tell stories and reflect the joy the children felt while creating them. These are not perfect artworks in the traditional sense – but they are genuine, full of emotion, and show what is possible when children are given the space to express themselves.
The Importance of Such Projects
This art workshop was a great success – not just because of the beautiful works, but especially because of the positive experiences the children were able to have. For Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe, this is further proof of how important such projects are. They offer children not only a creative outlet but also a place where they feel accepted and understood.
Thanks to the caring guidance of Milena Kuncheva and her foundation, along with the support of Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe, this workshop was made possible. Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe will continue to work to ensure that such valuable initiatives can happen. The bright eyes of the children and their proud presentation of their artworks show how deeply these experiences resonate – and how much they can achieve.
A big thank you to Milena Kuncheva and her foundation, as well as to everyone who made this workshop possible! You have given the children an unforgettable time.
