Education is the key to a better life. But for many children in Bulgaria, access to education is severely limited due to financial challenges, social barriers or difficult family circumstances. Poverty, disability and social disadvantage are unfortunately realities that they have to deal with on a daily basis.
Autistic, disabled and socially disadvantaged children are looking for their place in Bulgarian society. They want to learn, develop their strengths and make the most of their opportunities for an independent and self-determined life.
However, these opportunities are seldom available, and disadvantaged children and their parents remain outsiders in Bulgaria. The current projects of Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe show that there is another way: Together we create meeting places with educational opportunities that give hope to Bulgarian children with special needs and their parents and help them to make continuous progress towards self-realization.
Current projects to promote education and independence
Summer workshop for disadvantaged children in Kovachevitsa
During the four-day summer workshop from 29 August to 1 September 2024 in Kovachevitsa, 35 autistic, developmentally delayed and socially disadvantaged children will acquire new skills and contribute to their own physical, emotional, cognitive and psychosocial integration through their participation.
Camp for therapy, rehabilitation and social integration near Vidin
A place of hope and integration for children with disabilities is being created in the village of Major Uzunovo near Vidin. The camp will provide space for therapy, rehabilitation and peer interaction, giving children with special needs and their parents the opportunity to thrive and feel like valuable members of society. The remodeling plan includes not only the renovation of the house, but also the creation of a safe and inclusive outdoor area with a veranda, garden, animal enclosure, playground and more.
Educational material for disabled children from the day care center in Lovetsch
We are purchasing educational materials for the Lovetsch Day Center to enhance the learning abilities of children and youth with disabilities. From Montessori puzzles to language development materials, this project aims to improve the educational opportunities of these children and create an inclusive environment that promotes their individual development.
