Recap of our charity concert

Updated: Sep 5, 2023

The Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe charity concert on September 3, 2023 was a great success. Find out more about the presented charity projects and browse through the photos.

55 patrons, guests and friends attended the Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe charity concert on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at St. Stephan's Catholic Church in Männedorf and enjoyed the musical world tour of the virtuoso trombone quartet Slokar and the delicious aperitif afterwards.

After a welcome and introduction by Bulgarienhifle president Irina Buholzer and a tribute to the founder and honorary president of the association Anita Hammer, the presentation of the current charitable projects for the education and empowerment of Bulgarian children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds followed:

  • Learning boards for children with learning difficulties in Pazardjik and Lovetch: housed in small homes, these children are often orphans and have experienced terrible things - violence, neglect or a life on the streets. They urgently need support to keep up in school. For these children, we procure learning boards in various subjects to enable them to graduate from school and later lead an independent life.

  • Training center for autistic children in Sofia: In the Slatina district of Sofia, a training center for autistic children and young people is being built in the three-story Villa Autistika, which is in need of renovation. In Bulgaria, children and adolescents with autism are mostly educated by their parents. Therefore, the parents will be the main eductors of their children in the Villa Autistika. Donations will be used for the renovation and refurbishment of the house. Watch the report of bulgarian TV station bTV about autism in Bulgaria and the Villa Autistika project (in Bulgarian) below:

Even though 52'000 bulgarian Lewa ( = approx. CHF 25'000) have been donated so far, the renovation of Villa Autistika will require a ten times bigger investment (that is 500'000 Lewa or 250'000 Swiss Francs). Your donation is urgently needed now so that at least the first floor can be renovated and the children in need can move in.

We thank our patrons for the much appreciated donations and the great support of these important projects.
