Review of 2024: Donating for the Future of Bulgarian Children

Thanks to your generous support, Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe was able to implement remarkable projects in 2024 that bring hope, education, and opportunities for disadvantaged children in Bulgaria, enabling them to lead self-determined lives.

Unleashing Creativity: Art Workshop in Kovachevitsa

Art opens doors to new perspectives – a fact demonstrated by the art workshop in Kovachevitsa. Led by Milena Kuncheva and supported by a donation from Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe, 25 children with developmental challenges participated in this inspiring project. They learned pottery, painting on water (also known as Ebru), woodburning, and even dance and movement therapy. These creative activities not only enhanced their skills but also boosted their confidence and sense of community.

Education as a Key: Financial Support for Young Talents

Raising funds for the education of Bulgarian children is at the core of our mission. In 2024, we supported many young people through donations and sponsorships:

  • Sevdalin, a young man with mild autism, began studying cinematography in Sofia thanks to a scholarship from Viva80 Bulgarienhilfe. His dream of a creative career is now within reach.

  • Two individuals from the Day Center for Children and Young Adults with Disabilities in Lovech will attend computer courses in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, improving their professional opportunities.

  • Our support enabled young musicians to participate in the Allegra Festival in Sofia, where they attended masterclasses led by internationally renowned lecturers, further developing their talents.

Strengthening Communities: Spaces for Interaction, Development, and Fitness

The renovation of the holiday camp for children with disabilities in Major Uzunovo near Vidin is progressing well. A place for creative and therapeutic activities is being created here, offering children and young people with disabilities a space to develop - away from the monotony of everyday life at home.

IIn the family-like accommodation center for children in Pazardjik, our donations are being used to set up a training room with fitness equipment where the children can channel their energy into healthy habits.

A special highlight was the summer camp in Velingrad. Ten children from the accommodation center in Pazardzhik experienced a week filled with cultural activities, museum visits, and nature exploration – unforgettable moments that brought them joy and inspiration.

Taking Action Together: Fundraising for the Day Center in Vidin

Our actuary, Neda Derlokova, ran a half marathon in October to raise funds for our projects. The campaign raised CHF 1,300, which went directly toward renovating the day care denter for children and adults with disabilities in Vidin.

Through additional initiatives, such as a benefit concert at the Uetikon am See Cantonal School and strategic use of our social media channels, we raised awareness of our work and gained further support. Follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn – every like, share, and comment helps!
